We did not sponsor a hole to sell anything that day. We sponsored it to meet our neighbors and to show what we do in the most direct way we know: point a camera at people and hand them something good.
Why we sponsored a hole
EVEN Media is based in the Austin area, and most of our work is for software companies and event organizers across the country. That work is great, but it means a lot of our days are spent with people who are a flight away. We wanted to be more present in our own backyard.
A chamber golf scramble is one of the best rooms in town for that. It pulls business owners, city staff, first responders and young professionals onto the same course for a full day, in a setting where nobody is in a hurry. You do not get that mix at a networking breakfast.
How we ran Hole 4
Most hole sponsors put up a sign and maybe a cooler. We wanted golfers to walk away with something they would actually use, so we made the hole a free photo station.
Every foursome got a group photo on the tee. We wrote the camera's photo number on a claim ticket, golfers scanned a QR code and left their name and email, and their photos landed in their inbox within 48 hours through a private gallery. No sign up for anything else, no pitch, just their photos.

The hole had its own mascot, too. Surplus-7, EVEN Media's homemade space probe with a camera for a face, stood guard on our sign holding a slate. More than one golfer asked about him, which is exactly the point of a mascot.
Who we met
The field was a great slice of Leander. We met firefighters, engineers, City of Leander employees, and a crew of young golfers who were clearly there to win. Groups rolled through roughly every ten minutes, so the day became a long run of five minute conversations: where people work, what they are building, and more than a few tips on how to play Hole 4.

That is the part you cannot get from an ad. People remember the person who took their picture.

Thank you
A huge thank you to the Leander Chamber of Commerce and to Emily Ackel, the chamber's events manager, for running a smooth, fun tournament, and to Crystal Falls Golf Club for the setting. Thank you to every golfer who stopped at Hole 4, posed for a photo, and put up with a robot on a sign.

Missed your photo?
If your group was photographed at Hole 4 and you have not claimed your photos yet, you still can. Claim your Hole 4 photos here with the number from your card, and we will send them over.
We are also cutting a short Hole 4 recap video for the chamber. We will add it to this post when it is ready.
What we do
EVEN Media is an Austin content agency. We film on site at events and businesses, then turn that footage into a steady stream of video a team can actually use. If you are a Leander or Austin business that wants to show up on video without becoming a production company, book a strategy call.
